fd3615,

neat finds.

6 wheat's; always that old saying about
if your finding wheat's there should be silver.

My Garrett picks up silver good, but thinking
back, I have put in extra time hunting for silver
after finding several wheat's, but had no luck
on many occasions. :-\

A few time the extra hunting paid off in silver,
but not that often. :-\

Again, nice finds; thanks for posting.

have a good un......

Good finds. I found a fishing reel like that, but mine was a little older.

I have put in extra time hunting for silver after finding several wheats, but had no luck
on many occasions.

I know what you mean..even 50 years ago losing a penny here and there didn't really matter much..but in residential yards, the odds of finding the bigger change is drastically reduced..if there was only a way to find out whose homes were occupied by the more careless people ;D

If you have the right yard though, you're libel to hit both wheats and silver.

Here's a few examples: 2 months ago I was hunting a neighborhood yard (homes built in late 50's) and found a wheat or two in the front yard..then on opposite sides of the front yard I found 2 silver Roosevelt dimes.

Last week I found 22 wheat pennies in another back yard, but the rest of the back yard (and the whole front yard) contained absolutely no silver at all.

Today I checked a different yard and found nothing but clad in the front, then a wheat penny in the back, then in the corner of the back yard I found a silver Franklin half. You'd think if I found that I would at least have found one silver dime or silver quarter before or after such a find, but in residential yards, it's pretty much luck of the draw.

Keep hunting the older private yards..eventually you'll be able make comparisons. You'll begin to see how one yard can offer some good silver coins, while the one right next door may offer no silver at all..it really depends on who lived on the property and how many friends came over to visit..also, homes where multiple families have lived will yield a bigger variety of finds than homes that were occupied by a single owner.
