I found a few things today I can't identify. The came from a homesite that was abandoned in 1904. It's nothing but pasture now.
The four items surrounding the penny are copper (I'm almost positive). Any ideas? The item above them looks like a heel plate, but it's brass and pretty heavy. Did they use heavy pieces of brass for that?

The toe caps and lead ball are just for show since I found them at the same site. I also found lots of iron. Horseshoes, spikes, harness buckles, half of a kettle lid, and a 20 lb piece of the stove.
Thanks

Looks like a heel plate from a boot... a bunch of harmonica reeds, yup... copper (broken)... a musketball? And the upper left also looks like shoe parts... heals or toes...

Thanks guys. Harmonica reeds, huh? I knew they looked like something I'd seen on here before. I believe the lead ball is from a pistol though and not a musket. It mics .375 on my calipers. That's the same size that I cast for my .36 Colt Navy.
Thanks again!!

I may have some more for you tommorrow. ;) I'm going to a homesite where the death dates in the family plot start in 1864.
This long weekend with weather in the mid 60s is spoiling me.
