Went out this morning for a couple of hours to a new site. Had figured out there was a house there in the 1870's. Basically back to woods now, but underbrush was pretty sparse, that may be because several generations of partiers have kept it kicked down. Managed to get the 1913D wheat and the local bread token fairly close together. Token was right on top of the ground. Took a lot of work to get the issuer side cleaned up, it was unreadable when I found it. Neat piece any trade token is a great find, but finding locals are even better. Found the 1916 Nickel on the way out, better condition than most I find. Went back this afternoon and took a 3 gallon bucket. Filled it 2/3 up or more. Pulltabs, screwcaps, aluminum cans, aluminum lids to steel cans, the remains of steel lids, even found a nice surviving pre-pulltab beer lid! Vienna sausage lids, Spam can lids, plate iron, etc. I did find a set of four heavy hinges that I need to clean up, I think they're brass. A good day!
And one from the "Don't throw anything away" file, while cleaning up my change from last year a few weeks ago, I found this in the assortment. A wax seal stamper! Not even sure where I found it, although I vaguely remember digging it.
