Was able to get out for a few hours yesterday before the freezing cold returned and went back to where I found the OVM buckle a couple weeks ago & also some farm land not too far away my friend got permission for us to hunt.

Not another OVM but three standard buckles with the leather still attached came out of the same 12" wide hole. I'm not convinced they are civil war period yet but the area was documented cavalry & my friend dug a small 2" piece of an Eagle plate from the site a few weeks earlier. We could never find the rest of it :-[
I Also dug a few dropped and several shot bullets, misc. iron, and some whatsitz??

Anyone having any suggestions for the last two photos. My 1st thought was the long piece was off a lantern?? The small round piece is solid & heavy for it's size.

A friend & his son were hunting too and found a flat button, a few 3-ringers, and a shell fragment..

Thanks & HH

Nice finds. Looks like you need to go back to this site.

Great finds! I think the item in question is the wick holder to a brass lantern, common on old sites. Keep diggin in the area as those finds are looking great!
