I went to my cousin's daughter's 1st birthday party Saturday and before we were about to leave the wives gave us "permission" to go hunting Sunday! So, yeah...we jumped on that chance! lol We met with a buddy from work at the property we have been hunting and I leaded them to the "sweet spot" that I found some more CW bullets, seated half dime and the 1708 German silver coin( http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/t...-georg-ludwig-plus-some-confederate-lead.html ). Once I got over to my spot I left off on, I started find various caliber round balls and a carved piece of lead. I walked around toward where I found the half dime and turned up a bullet I haven't dug before. It has 2( or 3 rings) has a flat base and the bullets comes more to a point. With the research I've done, it looks close to the Merrill Carbine, but still not 100 percent positive.

After that I found a .54 cal. gardner that looked to be melted or fired...not sure which. Also found a pin or something that looks to be hand engraved. Also not long before I left I found a 1905 Indian head. Not a bad hunt by any means. Thanks for looking and happy hunting guys and girls!

Thats awesome man ,nice score ! Would love to see the back of that pin with hand carving on it .

Looks to me like you have some .54 Spencers there. And the round ball looks to be a .54 to. The small round ball is a pistol.
You are on to something there hunt man you got2dig. HH

You have a dropped .54 Spencer and a .54 Sharps that looks to have been in a camp fire. That is a great sign, means they were there and simply not walking through. I would continue to dig it and dig the hole out a bit where the melted sharps came from, especially if the other melted lead was with it.

It's a spencer? I've never seen a spencer like it.

It was a fun morning. Hows the size to the other spencers you have. Maybe the soil there is alot better then at haldemans so thats why it wasnt all corodid. I will try to post my stuff sometime.

Here are side by side comparisons to other spencers and sharps I have found.
