I snuck out of the house this morning before my wife woke up for a couple of hours. There was a spot at the bottom of the hill below the village that I live in with some freshly cut grass so I thought I would give it a shot. First thing I dug up was a button. Then I found a coin in poor shape as usual. I think the date is 1867 but I'm going to have to soak it to be sure. There were a couple of German rounds too. The numbers on the butt of the rounds are 23 44 * 5 then some other marks that are hard to describe. Then I was pleasantly surprised to dig up a measuring weight. On my way out, after about 2 hours, I had one last signal. I dug up a brass machinery placard with the words Benteler Werke Aktiengesellschaft. At the bottom it says Bielefeld. I did a short google search on this and this company is one of many companies that manufactured anti-aircraft guns during the war. I'm not sure what this tag came off of but it sounds good... Any info on the tag or the rounds would be awesome. All in all it was a good morning, even though I didn't leave with a bag full of coins. HH...
