Went to a local Salvation Army yesterday and bought a few things. It was 50% off on all bric a brac so that made it even better.
The Cookie jug is from McCoy Pottery, I collect cookie jars and I knew what it was as soon as I saw it. Not special but another for the collection. Paid $5.00

I went home shortly after I purchased the jar because they hadn't brought out the "new stuff" yet. While I was there I spotted something I wasn't too sure about because they wanted $8.00 (or $4.00) for it and i'm thrifty when it comes to my money so I passed on it for the time being. I went home and started looking online for it and saw that they are selling for upwards of $50-$60.00, I jumped back in my truck and hightailed it back down there hoping it was still there. For once luck was on my side and the local Haitians hadn't swooped it up yet. It's a Gucci ashtray and it will be going on Ebay soon (as soon as the others on there are sold).

Now i've got the "itch" because of these two decent finds and the "new stuff" has been brought out. I spotted another ashtray, rather large with an initialed medallion in the middle of it. I flip it over and it says " The Hyde Park NO.1970 U.S.A." on the underside. It didn't sound familiar but I liked it, even though I haven't smoked for 3 1/2 years. It didn't have a price on it so I asked the lady and she said $2.00, I said sold. I got it home and "Googled' it. It turns out it's a piece made by Roseville Pottery for the Hyde Park Company produced in the 1940's. Cool, A nice vintage ashtray made by a famous company for $2.00.

Next I spotted a nice little glass box. It's an opalescent hobnail trinket box and it was only a buck. Nothing special but I liked it.

Also spotted an ugly vase with no markings but it looked kinda cool and for another dollar what the heck.

All in all not a bad haul for $13.00 from a thrift store.![thumbsup  ](https://www.treasurenet.com/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
