Ok, not warm warm, but warm enough to have the sleeves up on my sweatshirt. It was nice and sunny today too. A stark contrast to yesterdays chilly, drizzly day.
Decided to go to a field today that has never let me down, even though I know its been hunted for 30+ years and a thousand people know about it. I can't imagine how much stuff came out of this field back in the 60's or 70's. I found some lead today including a couple of Burnsides. Also found a J hook, scabbard finial, and a first for me, a bullet puller. Also found a dateless buffalo nickel which was a disappointment because it had a green patina when I pulled it out of the ground and I thought I might have my first shield nickel. Oh well, t'was a good day anyway.
The round lead pieces for those that don't know are the broken bases to William's cleaner bullets. Couldn't find the rest of them. Probably long gone.

Re: A few civil war finds on this warm January day - Nice!

Never get tired of seeing relics. Nice day of hunting. Hope it warms up in Indiana soon. We have had a great January, but we still aren't ready to quit digging.

You are having some great hunts of late. Those zinc Williams Cleaners disks sure sound good don't they? Nice finds & HH, Quindy.

Yeah, they sure do. They ring out louder than a full bullet sometimes.
Thanks for the replies everyone. I love saving civil war history. No work today so I'm heading back out there. Will let ya know if I find anything else good.
