A father's day gift to myself - GOLD -
Well, we got about three quarters of an inch of rain again this morning, but the sun came out, and it hit around 80 degrees, so decided it was time to get out of the house. Grabbed my machines, and I was off. When I got into the car, I had no idea as to where I was going to go. Finally decided to go back to an old park that I had hit over a year ago, and found less than a buck in it at that time. Was hoping that I might do better this time.
Got to the park, and started swinging and all I was getting was can slaw and pop tops. Finally found a zinc memorial, and then things started to turn around a little.
Found a nice brass buckle, a spent bullet lead, a nice patriotic key chain clip, along with a 2002 Chucky Cheese token, all mixed in with a bunch of clad. Was sitting at a picnic table under a tree, having a drink of cold water from my trusty canteen when I just swung the coil close to the tree. Got this real weird low sound coming out, and it only registered 12 on the DFX, but something about it just really caught my attention.
So, I dug. What popped out of that hole about caused me to have a heart attack. It was a large ring with 4 diamonds on it. I thougth it was gold, but couldn't find any markings other than the number 417 on it next to where the band was broken. One of the stones was missing, and was probably knocked out when hit by the mower. Said shucks, put it in my bag, and kept hunting. When I got home, I started checking the web for the jewelry marking 417, and found out that this is the marking of 10 Kt gold. Thus, I have found my 2nd true gold ring. Even it the mower found it first, I am one happy guy.
Hope your father's day was a good one too. HH all.
