WHAT KIND OF TREASURE ARE WE HUNTING TODAY ?
Detector(s) used
MINELAB E TRAC, EXCAL2,QUATTRO,WHITE 6000 DI PRO SL,EAGLE SPECTRUM,SILVER UMAX ,BANDIDO UMAX VARIOUS VINTAGE
heres a weird one. so im so happy to see a metal detecting club getting started nearby.only to see that its brand exclusive.what?i thought treasure hunters were very broadminded. club is only open to owners of brand x. detectors.huh? i guess its their club they can do whatever they want. but, i dont own a brand x detector.just purchad new one and cant afford another for awhile, and need a club in my area. turns out club president and founder is a dealer for brand x detectors.personally i think all detector clubs should be open to anyone interested.does he think people will be so eager to join that they will buy the brand x detector he sells. why not say the club is open to all, but discussion and meetings will primarily focus on brand x detectors. this seems bogus.i was thinking of asking him these questions first.but, i need advice as to how to approach him. has anyone ever heard of any detetcor club only open to one brand.? kind of seems like he is starting club not for fun but as a sales tool.

Thats exactly what it sounds like to me, as well.

He is free to do whatever he wants, however. If he wants to reward his customers in such a way, thats all fine and dandy.

Don't be put out, start your own club! You really don't need to know much about detecting, just be willing to put one on somewhere and get the word out. Plenty of experience will come your way and people are always willing to share stories and tips. Most are not willing to volunteer to help run the club, however.... just my experience. So be prepared to do this yourself, if need be.

Just my 2 cents.
If it's a club for brand X, and that's what the person that started it wants, not much else to say.

It doesn't say your location on your post.
Maybe you could go to your state page and see who lives close to you and start up a group.
Hope you find a hunting buddy, best of luck with your detector too!

Jeffro, lol, you beat me to it!! I second what Jeffro says!

Sounds more like a business decision than a club. Pretty good idea though if your in it for the $$$$. Get a visitor to your club and if they join they a buy a detector from you. It's a shame. One one nice thing about joining a club is that you get to try allot of different brands and models from other members without having to buy them first. I don't think I would join a club like that. Sounds like they are a close minded group.

thats stupid. what happens if brand X goes belly up? the club goes under too?

>:( >:(......That's not a club that is someone out to make ..$$$$$$$...tell him to stick it......i like clubs one of the reasons is to get to see and try out other brands of detectors and a lot of other reasons i would never join a money grubbing club like that.............that is all he is out for is the $$$$$...==Jim==

Does it begin with a "W" by any chance?

I'd probably have owned one and been happy but for the local dealer who is a XXXXhead. Made an appontment to meet him (arranged a long lunch from work to drive the 25 miles. He wasn't there and his wife tried (poorly) to explain the workings with coins glued on little paint paddles.

"Can we try it outside?"

"No, but you can rent one and use it outside."

Made a second appointment and talking to the owner was worse. That's when I got a serious interest in anything else and have stuck to it.

>:( ??? I had a dealer 2 dealers like that up here in N.E. Ohio i knew more than they did and i could not try out the detector the one started with...W...the other dealer would not let you take the detector with him out side and see how it worked he would show you but don't touch it would be a used detector then? Never did buy a detector from any of the so called dealers...............==.Jim==

All I can say is Very sad :(

And agree, Not a Club a buisness Ploy.

Maybe, and it's just my opinion, maybe these guys is from the hills and are just too stupid to learn about other detectors. Too many swiches and knobs for them to concentrate on and figure out. :violent1:

They only know how theirs work and can't be bothered to learn something new. Kinda like the chimp who can turn on a light switch, but never learned how to turn it off, or the guy learning witch way to load a shotgun shell in the barrel before firing. You don't get too many of those chances. :D

I wouldn't join this club if you paid me. I've got to agree with what others have posted, they're trying to make some money here selling stuff.
