This 7” deer bone hairpin came from West Central Florida.. it would have had feathers and personal decorations on the top end and was inserted in the hair giving the appearance of feathers and such were tied to the hair.... 787C9569-6143-4DD6-A49B-C12B2981BEB6.jpeg9541178A-7E8C-46A7-998A-D9ABF47F8235.jpegC804DAB5-D9BA-4842-8A22-BF810908CBF3.jpeg8623C9A8-0DA9-472B-88D8-E3E92323672F.jpeg1C6994FA-673A-4564-9A2E-E9B6F5F20C8A.jpeg6257CE10-2297-4091-9F16-10971464DE52.jpeg

Nice find, what part of Central Florida, I live in central Florida. Not asking exact location maybe just county.

Wow! That's nice...

Lake Poinsettia, Brevard County, early 70s, As you know, Florida pretty much put the skids on hunting for a lot of the good stuff.

I know, I hunted creeks, streams and fields in Missouri for 20 years, when I moved back to Florida I found out they ended the finds program, I didn't want to jeopardize my collection so I haven't hunted here.

Lake Poinsett is East Central Florida near Cocoa. I live maybe 25 miles south. I have lots of pottery, some bone pins & shell tools from this area. Except for two damaged points from a sand pit I've never found any stone artifacts over here. That is one of the nicest bone pins I've ever seen.

I never found any points over Orlando way ...Some of the folks farther south in center of state find Flint.like maybe around Sebring, I forget what they call that area, but I occasionally see points found down and across from me.some nice stuff comes from the st Johns.

Most central Florida flint/coral is from farther west like Polk County or north Marion County. I have a cache of Woodland points I found on a construction site in Orange County. This was in the 80's. I posted them here years ago.

Do it again or put up a link. Most everyone would like to see.

Im going to have to get a map and empty chalk board.
The only fine bone tools Ive seen are from the Missouri river in Mont. and the Dakotas. It has that same dark orange antiqued looking finish.
Did you treat with gomers? or Hals homemade sunburn salve?
Ive made an extra bedroom into my artifacts display room, work in progress.
You must of had to make the extra room your living quarters and the main living space you artifacts display?
