A date when posts were originally posted

When I get on I generally use the "unread posts" option and I end up reading some very old posts. If there was an "originally posted date" with the topic header/title it would be nice and maybe keep me from posting to topics that are 3 or 4 years old. I know It's there when I open the thread but I am usually to intent on seeing the post and don't even think to look at the date.
