Detected a field for about 1.5 hours. The fog was rolling in on the drive home after work but I was determined to get some detecting time on a local field. After checking in at home and getting ready, I got to the field just as dusk was settling into night. Stepped into the field and started swinging, looked around at the thick fog and a grey cast above the black plowed field and thought how great it was being there in this eerie setting, I expected the Scooby Doo van to show up anytime. Found a few coins, some trash and a great time in the ghostly environment. Here?s the coins, a 1925 Brass Aluminium 5 Pfennig coin, a copper 1700s??? coin and a Zinc coin probably 1940ish.

Obverse of the copper coin, is struck off center and looks like a wagon wheel in the middle, some words around the legend are nearly impossible to make out, almost looks like the word Bayreuth in part of the legend, Bayreuth is a local town.

Reverse of the copper and what?s left of a very confusing pattern. I didn?t find much but it was an awesome evening. Detecting a church tomorrow while my car gets some maintenance on Veterans day, hope to find some Euro clad and later detect a field or a beach. HH, Mike

hey mike,, here in England i was detecting an old place once, known as clumber park, this is mainly a wooded area of nottingham where the robin hood was to hide out from the sherrif of nottingham, robin actually camme from yorkshire where i am,, well this one day i was in there detecting, and finding a few coins and trash, it was getting dark, but id just stumbled on this part that was very interesting, a very old kind of maner house looked deserted, massive grounds, i went back to my jeep and got my flashlite, went back to this place and started to detect, i stayed to the edge of the woods along side the maner grounds, it soon became very errie with fog comeing in and the air was chilling, i carried on, but not for long as i heard what sounded like a horse comeing my way, i thought o my this is a land owner to see what iam doing must have seen my flashlite,, i stood there looking through the fog only to see nothing but the sound of this horse was so near, why could i not see it, then the sound of horse shoes pounding in the ground dissapeared, and with all the trees looking somewhat like shapes of a horror movei, i left and went back to my jeep, and off home,. a couple of weeks later i was telling a friend where id been and he said wow, that place is well haunted why you go there, i said i dident know anything about the area, he said i'll phone a guy up now and let you speek to him ask him about that place,, i spoke to this guy and he said o yes its said that theres a horseman a highway man who was hanged there, has often been seen, i went stone cold and gave the phone back to my friend wondering if that is what i heard the horseman,, just glad i never saw him.. due to that i'll never go back, way to spooky for me lol,, just thought id tell this story, theres proberly good finds there too. i'll have to try and get a picture of this place if i can, looks like a ghostly setting,.

You always have some great old coins,,, I would need 5000 books to just to keep up with ya... ;D
Don't let any ghost scare ya out of that field, remember, it's probably just some old geezer dressed up like a ghost trying to scare you away from the treasure... ;D
Good luck & Happy hunting~
