My oldest daughter and I went out rock hunting yesterday....at her request [emoji16] (I think I've got her hooked)

It was kind of a crappy day but nothing compared to some of the insane weather I've gone out hunting in.

My goal was for us to walk about 2 miles down to a spot which has kicked out many a fine point but when we got there there was nearly nothing to find.....although my daughter did find her first full point!......the white Swan River chert Duncan/Hanna.
We proceeded to walk back towards the truck.....2 miles north. That's when we started scoring.

Her finds are the bottom row in the picture with 8 pieces in it and the top base in the picture with 3 pieces.......I found all the rest of that stuff. 20190406_150127.jpg20190406_114818.jpg20190406_150219.jpg20190406_150257.jpg20190406_150322.jpg20190406_150403.jpg20190406_150431.jpg20190407_080030.jpg20190407_080157.jpg20190407_080321.jpg

Wow! More Rootbeer! Can’t beat a walk like that.
Yeah.....that's almost all you find around here.....good stuff though! April was on fire yesterday....best day she ever had.....out of 3 hunts total

looks Like both of you did well. Those are some very nice points. Congrats.

nice finds...............….is that a Paleo scraper or do you find that type of scraper in your area on archaic sites too?
No, I'm sure it is Middle Archaic based on the points I find around there. Pretty much all scrapers, no matter what culture, are the same. A guy can find spurred scrapers with Folsoms sometimes but that's about the only exception.

Great bunch of finds, congrats! :occasion14:

Wish we had that kind of material in our artifacts. We do have some, what I call, unprecedentedly, beautiful clear quartz. Due to the small size of most crystal quartz pieces and the difficulty to work most arrowheads are small to medium size. I personally have never found one over 2". They are still a thrill to hold and own.
