I got out with Tony for a whole day of detecting with the plan of only hunting new sites. The first new site was a bust even though it looked very promising. The second site was one of the better new sites that we've found all year. Got 9 coins altogether including a cartwheel penny, a large Nova Scotia token and a few toasted large coppers. Copper of the day I thought was an American LC but it turned out to be something even better...a "not One Cent" hard times token!

Silvers even made an appearance with a 1920 silver fishscale and the find of the hunt...1853 seated Half dime! American silver is rare enough in Nova Scotia but a seated half dime is almost unheard of! Very pleased with this hunt and looking forward to getting back there.

Wow! Great finds. Congrats. -Lisa & John

Great day hunting! Congratualtions! :occasion14:

Now that's a good day! Large coppers from Canada, USA, and Britain, topped off with SEATED silver?! I know how scarce they are up here, congrats man.

Cool little find!
Seated coins, and American silver in general is a tough thing to find up this way
Thanks for breaking the ice....I'll have to get one for myself now!

The american silver still eludes me... by the looks of the finds, you had a fantastic day... nailed a bucket list one myself...maybe....?? posted on trade forum...

Nice work. Seems like a lot of seated half dimes have been unearthed recently. Id gladly give up one of mine for some old Canadian silver

You need to ship it back.
Actually, depending on the election, I might be stopping by personaly
to retrieve it.
Kudos!

Curious, what does the other side of the "Not One Cent" look like?

Why are Canadian 5-cents referred to as fish-scales?
I believe the 3-cent American silver, half-dimes, and Canadian 5-cent coins were called that because of the size.
Like the scales on the sides of a large tuna.

Its no wonder too...they are so small...even smaller than our silver 5 cents.

Awesome mix of finds- Love the Half-dime- Congrats!!
