Got out today to a new spot. There was still some frozen ground, but most wasn't too bad. Of course the thawed areas were mucky and wet, but that beats frozen solid.

I was pulling wheats early and often so I was hopeful there was some silver lurking. I finally got one but nicked the crap out of it. :BangHead: I think that's my first silver that I have nicked while digging it.

A 47 Rosie. You can see the gouge.

A little while later got another decent signal and I saw what I hoped would be something silver peeking out of the crack.

Plug opened up. Turned out to be another Rosie. 61. (At least I didn't nick this one!)

12 wheats from 1944 to 1956 and the silvers cleaned up.

Yep, got her good. :sadsmiley:

I found this yesterday on my short hunt in a park. It was laying on top of the ground. From my research it appears to be a South Korean coin. No value, but neat to find.

Just wanted to say, I know some of you may wonder why people bother to post pics of common coins, but not everyone can find gold coins or ultra rare items so this is our way of participating on the forum.

Thanks for looking.

Nice finds! Represents a good day for the majority of diggers here as most the gold coins are found out west and the old silver in the NE, the rest of us just have to take what we can get. Cheers!!

hey, that's a pretty good hunt for a lot of us. so many variables on what can be found, I found over four hundred coins last year and only two wheaties in all of that, that ain't great. only found two silver coins and I hunted pretty hard in the areas I was able to hunt, so it has to be there first and we also have to be willing to dig those iffy signals and that is why I am focusing even more this year on tones. the scratched silver, well it happens, bound to eventually if you dig enough

ehh who cares ya nicked it, still cool to get silver in this deep freeze, I love hunts like you had today, a handful of wheats and some silver, aint nothing wrong with that, now can ya send some of that heat up north a bit?? lol

Sweet hunt!!
Any hunt you find silver is a good hunt in my book, two silvers great hunt. Glad you could find more thawed ground then frozen ground. All this snow and cold is getting old here. Congrats!!

Thanks guys. And I didn't mean to sound like I wasn't thrilled with this hunt. I am happy if I just get 1 silver, let alone 2. In fact, only one other time have I found 2 silvers in one day.

Thanks again and HH.

Very nice coin finds! The Korean coin is very interesting.

Good show my man! Congrats on hitting two silvers. Nice pics too. GL&HH!

Treasure is in the eye of the beholder, I know guys that will look down on a 1800's Indian or a old Merc. I'm with you, you had a great hunt and shared it with us. I'd be grinning from ear to ear with a two Rosie day.
Congrats!

Silver is always good to find. Won't be the last one you knick. We all do it from time to time. I have 2 friends in your area and they find 1800 and older coins often. Lots of property that date to the "Old Salem Village" time in your area. Congrats on the silver.

Wow! Congrats! Nice silvers, wheats, and foreign coin!

Any day you find silver is a good day! We have all nicked something. I nicked a Barber dime.

I would celebrate with you for anything you found if finding it made you happy. It's all in the thrill of the hunt, of course finding a chest full of gold would not make anyone sad either! Lol!

No, I don't think you cut it, looks like an old mower cut.

Congratulations!! Some nice finds

Thanks everyone!

No, I don't think you cut it, looks like an old mower cut.

I wish it was a mower, but I'm pretty sure it was me. My pinpointing/digging was off all day. I got a couple of the wheats also. This dime was in the side of the hole, so I sliced off some more plug and when I brought the extra dirt out of the hole I could already see the silver and the nick. No biggie I guess. At least it wasn't a rare coin. :)

Thanks everyone!

The cuts do not look fresh to me.

You had a great day! You find those silver coins two at a time and they'll add up quickly! Congratulations.
