Thanks to who ever that was that sold me the Monkey Pitcher at the Lighthouse Point estate sale at 6 am last Sat. morning. You said you were a member here but I forgot your name. I keep wanting to say Laffitte Deux but he lives in NC.
Not too many garage sale finds being shown for obvious reasons, so here are just a few of my finds from last weekend. I love this hobby!

Included in this is the Arthur Court Monkey Pitcher- Arthur Court Monkey Pitcher | eBay

A miniature Lane cedar chest- Lane began producing miniature cedar chests in 1925. Five years later, the firm's sales manager converted these miniatures into a great promotional idea: the company invited young women about to graduate from high school to pick up a free miniature chest at their local furniture store. By 1984 more than 15 million prospective Lane customers had received these promotional gifts.

I have to research the company name to find out how old it may be. Value-from $50 down to $5, depending on age and condition, for a dollar, I had to have it. lane cedar sample | eBay

Here are a couple nice 70's era throwbacks-

DSC02621.webp

A Sankyo 412 flip clock should sell for $20-$30
and a Hamilton Industries Atomic Orange adjustable arm desk lamp, value $25-$35
The KFC Bucket cooler (warmer) is too cool and not for sale yet. Paid $10, had to negotiate on that one.
The Hit Stix work, but they aren't worth too much $10-$20. The box is dated 1988.

I also got a Lord Elgin watch at another sale and picked a few small goodies from my secret spot at the local flea market too. I will show those in another post, as well as the wife's finds too.

Thanks for looking.

Diggum, I have twice now picked up those Lane mini cedar chests or hope chests. Both times I paid a dollar and I had no problem selling each for $10.

T.

My mom still owns the mini chest she was given as a senior in high school.

The flip clock...at one time, that thing would have sold for moon money.

Wow...just followed the link on the monkey pitcher.

I never would have guessed that thing was worth $75 or more. If I would have looked at a table full of those at an estate sale and thought "How ignorant. This sale sucks. Someone needs to scrap that aluminum." LOL, but true.

Yeah, that's the first small one i've run across. We purchased a large full sized one last year for $40, still had the paperwork inside of it from the 1940's.

clovis- I used to think the same thing until my brother in law went to an estate sale with us one Saturday a couple years ago. He bought an aluminum crab which (because i'm from Maryland) did look pretty cool. It was made by Bruce Fox, he sold it for like $100 or something. He told me to look out for those and Arthur Court pieces.

There are many things out there that you wouldn't expect to be worth what they are. I've come across things time and time again.

I am currently getting my treasure hunting fix through you guys. I am moving within the month so I am not letting myself go out and buy anything else. I swear I am going through withdrawal. :BangHead:

I love that retro orange lamps and the flip clock.

I've owned a number of those mini chests in the past. They sell really fast at a flea market for $10 to $15 each. They make great jewelry boxes.

I've bought and sold a number of the full size chests too. Back when shabby chic was all the rage, I could pick up rougher examples of those chests for as little as $10 and sell them for a FAST flip for $50 to $75. I did particularly well with the earlier waterfall styles, especially if the veneer was bad. Bad veneer on a waterfall chest will destroy the value at an estate auction, but will leave you lots of room for margin for someone wanting to paint it and use it as a coffee table.

Nice job on picking up the monkey ... Im also addicted to estate, moving, yard, garage sales..:hello2:I wish my wife would go picking with me, but she would rather sleep in..
