Hi all, been a week or so since I was able to get out with the detector. I went to a place a couple miles from home I've been waiting for the farmer to cut.
He's in a program where he can only cut a certain percentage of his fields, and can't cut them shorter than 6", and has to leave the rows of grass lay how it falls, and can't do it till August 1st apparently. It helps with his taxes and I guess keeps habitat for wild life.
I took a short hunt this eve because I noticed one of the strips he cut was right over where I thought a old homesite mite be. It was tough because he cut but the grass was still 8" and better high and the stems were dry and woody this time of year, I couldn't get the detector very close the ground so I was only catching the shallow targets. Still not bad for an hour and a half hunt!
Found a few tomback buttons, a toe taps, strap guide and a nice 1782 brittish copper hibernia. Minted for Ireland if im not mistaken. The equinox seems to love the brittish coppers, I have a good many of them now, this is one of the nicer ones.
