Nice finds Dreamcatcher. The serrated Trinangle is a killer piece and I don't think the long narrow piece is a drill because the sides are to jagged. My guess is it's a knife form of some kind.

I'd say a Randolph, they are unmistakable. Nice Unwharries, I see a Yadkin Eared too. Seems like you found yourself a Woodland period campsite. Congrats !!!

Molly.

Yep, I've been working this campsite for several months. Here's a pretty nice Yadkin eared from the site and also a PeeDee Pentagonal and what I presume is a hand-axe. The place is knee-deep (not really) in potsherds and I've got several nutting stones also. There are small creeks on the South and West slopes and hickory trees are in abundance. The land has never been farmed and there is a rather large rhyolite outcropping adjacent to the site.
I've found Guilford points lying adjacent to PeeDee and Yadkin points..I'm gonna play in this sandlot for a long time. What makes it great is --- I own it!

I met a guy off of 24/27 a couple of days ago who had a lot of cool points and stuff.
He said he owned some land he hunted too.
Maybe I need to buy some land!

Well if you found Guilfords, you're hunting on a Archaic & Woodland site. The Guilford Yuma's are Early Archaic, is that what you've found?
The campsite I hunt on is from Early,Middle,Late Archaic- Woodland. Which is fantastic, you never know what you're going to find. I can hunt ontop of the hill, for Archaic points or down the bottom of the hill for Woodland points.
That's a nice Rhyolite Yadkin, I'm yet to find a whole one, I seem to find more Triangles.

Can you show us the Guilfords...I am curious to whether you have an Early Archaic site..

Congrats on your finds.

Ok, That's a Round base Guilford, Middle Archaic, If you've found more than one, which I presume you have, It's looking like you have an Archaic campsite there too, which seems typical here in NC, to find Archaic/Woodland sites close to each other. So we've established that much, now keep your eyes open for the Guilford Yuma (very common) Early Archaic, ( the Yuma is not always classed as Early Archaic here, but Greg Perino studied Eastern points, & stated the Yuma was a Lanceolate point, Also Early Archaic, there is no doubting him, he was the best typologist).
I think there's no doubt you'll find Savanah Rivers, Late Archaic, I must have found 50 or so to date, very very common.

Let us know what else you find, best of luck too.
Hope this is helpful.

Molly. :)

Thanks, Molly,
Over the years I've found several Guilfords but I'm not familiar with a Guilford Yuma. Here's a pic of a Sav. River from the same site which has been resharpened (probably by the Woodland folks). Larry

Thanks, Molly. Those are not uncommon finds around here but are referred to as Guilfords with a ground base. We also have some Guilfords with a crude base. Nice example you have there

I have a lot of Guilfords, 2 of these, identical. I prefer the green rhyolite, shows up the flaking. I also have Milky Quartz, several colours of Rhyolite, Shale too. Also about 25 preforms that were going to be Guilfords, the shape is there, just rough.

I was wondering if you have green rhyolite there? or is it mostly the rough looking rhyolite?

btw that's a very typical Sav R, I find them in all colours (rhyolite) peach, green, grey, blue.

I'd say half my collection consists of Guilfords & Sav's, so its exciting to find Kirks & Woodland Triangles. I just can't find a whole Yadkin, usually the Ears are missing.

Well thankyou for showing me your points, look forward to seeing more.
Good Luck hunting on your land.

Molly. :)
