(Solved) A couple of unidentified finds

Here are a couple of items which I found today and am having trouble with finding any history on. One is a thimble and the other is possibly a button? The thimble says "something State Coffee." It might possibly say "Winter State Coffee." The other item has "Brass Plugs" on it. I can almost make out a date and also "Simpson?" Does anyone know anything on these items? Could the thimble be silver?

The first item looks like a purse snap from what era I don't know, and I have no info on your thimble but someone will find out info on that.

Thanks B.o.B. I wish I could read the dang date on it. Oh well.

A lot of those advertising giveaway thimbles were aluminum, at least the ones that I have found. You should be able to tell silver from aluminum by feel and rubbing. Cool find.

I found an identical eye-button-thingy a few weeks ago! The center is a screw that holds the back on. Mine also says "BRASS PLUGS" (I think it is "plugs"...) but I cannot make out the other letters. I found mine at a homestead that was built at the turn of the century and abandoned in the 1940s. Most of the stuff I find there is 1910s-1930s. I'm subscribed to this thread and hope someone recognizes these!

The oval shaped item is a bicycle tube repair patch. There should be patent dates stamped into it from 1898 and 1899.

I agree with villagenut that it is an advertising piece, probably from the 1930s-40s. Do a search for vintage advertising thimbles and many similar to yours can be found.
