I have been reading all about other people's great finds at lawn sales on this site recently, so I stopped at a lawn sale here in town today and bought a 1964 Washington qtr and an 1918 sterling silver British shilling for a combined buck and a half. Not a big deal like some of you have found, but atleast 5 bucks in silver alone and the cheapest I can see the shilling on Ebay for as a buy it now is 10 bucks. I have learned a ton from this site, I started reading it 14 months or so ago just to get info on what metal detector to buy and now I am going to lawn sales, checking my dollars for repeating and such serial numbers, digging up pulltabs in case they are gold rings and dreaming of finding treasure everywhere. LOL It has been nothing but fun and just wanted to say, "The bug has bit me." HH to all, T.

you act like you're the only one this has happened to lol ...... welcome to our world where "leave no stone unturned because it may be hiding something"

Thats great. You almost doubled your money on the quarter alone. Worth about $2.30 right now. I have a small jar I put my foreign silver in. I think the shilling has about $2.05 in silver right now. If you can sell for $6-8 after fees that would be a good way to go.

Welcome to the wonderful world of (insert treasure obsession here)!
Over the last several years I have been a treasure hunter. The goal has always been the same. Get lots of gold & silver but the form of hunting has evolved smoothly from one obsession to the next.

Metal detecting to coin roll hunting to copper cent hoarding to yard sale hunting to ??????? I have done pretty well in all four, just wondering what form it will take on next.
