Neither of them, really. I actually didn't do as well as normal, but I haven't been able to hunt as much as I would have liked. I found a lot more than is shown here, but it's still just common stuff. I was just happy to be able to get out and hunt a little bit over the summer!

well u have a good spot,i humt se ks ne ok and nw ar but it's been slow because of lack of rain gluck

There's no way I'd find many points if I hunted one spot. The secret to arrowhead hunting is simple - you need to spend at least 1/3 of your time out, just looking for new spots. If you keep hunting the same site(s), you will only find the same stuff...but in diminishing numbers.

Don't underestimate yourself, that looks like a darn good haul to me! :occasion14:

That would be a great ten year find. But you are right about finding new places. It is like Fishing. Finding new spots is more fun than catching fish :). And more challenging. But man, there are museum qualify pieces there, for sure.

It's a wander I haven't had a wreck just driving around looking at fields, looking for water near the fields and taking notice of how the land slopes. Onlinefisherman is right, it's like fishing. I wish Lowrance made an artifact finder. Lol. Learning how to find the spots is the hard part. Once they are found, technique, and patients are the next elements to work on. I think all fishermen would like artifact hunting. Vise versa ! I've been so lost while out looking for new grounds, that I got scared. That's part of the fun!

If you have an android phone go to play store and search the app. Arrowhead hunter. Its pretty cool. It lets you use g.p.s. satilite to search and create waypoints where you have found artifacts while also letting you store photos of them. You can create a waypoint when your in the field and use g.p.s. to return to the same spot.

Really Nice collection of points you have there. Looks like you have been quite fortunate this last summer. Congratulations!

Hey NC Field!!! GoogleEarth!!!!

I was sitting today looking for spots in the forests up north of Tampa. West of Gainesville. The forests there to the coast were a ripe Paleo area. And there are square miles of dense forest. Here and there you see spots. Open spots. Dark spots and light spots next to each other. And there are six springs within five or eight miles of here place I was looking. I dropped pins. I am gonna buy one of those back country cycles that can run through dirt, I am, and I am gonna run down those open spots in those forests. It is mostly private land. I will contact the owners and get permission to drive around. I am an actual journalist, and now member of every archaeological, fossil, and old-stuff group. I am sixth and intend to live till I am 103. And I am gonna dedicate the next twenty years to growing my already serious collection, I can beg or press-card my way onto almost any property in the world. Seriously. A press card is a great excuse for being places you should not be.

But please keep that between you and me :)

Yes google earth is nice. I thought I was the only one to think of that. It does have its down falls too. I was looking for the fish weirs on the Dan River, and they don't show on their. I have an iPhone and my dad has a droid . The droid google earth is far superior to the iPhone google earth. IPhone is so over rated its sad. The press card, I think you screwed up and posted that for the world to read. However, for the ones that don't read it, I won't tell them. Thanks for the advice!
