Hello all ... these are few of my finds from the past couple of hunts (1920s house in the neighborhood that I have hunted several times ... thats probably why I didn't find any clad). On these hunts I turned my discrimination up and worked one side yard and the back yard. The best find was my first gold for the year ... a nice graduation charm/necklace that looks like it is probably from the 1950s or 60s. On the back it has the following marks ~ 720-12 K.G.F.C.T. (anyone know what this means other than it is 12 carat gold) A couple of nice finds were two more IH Cents (1902 and 1908) and they are surely in rough shape but at least I could get the dates from them. Other finds include: a no date wheat cent, a full brass shotgun shell, a plain front button, an old pocket knife, a small curry comb?, a sterling silver thimble, parts of an old cap gun, and a couple of other relics and whatzits.

Nice finds. I've been using the hot peroxide method on my buttons (as well as for IHs and wheaties) and it's been working real well. You might want to give it a try.

Cheers,

There's almost nothing better in my book than finding gold, silver and old coins. HH and thanks for sharing.

I think your mark stands for 7/20th gold by weight and the purity of the gold is 12 karat. 7:20 is a ratio used to state how much gold in on an item marked GF (Gold Fill) by its total weight. I could give you a positive answer if you post the mark. HH

Looks like a great hunt, Jim! Congrats on those finds~

Nana :)

brass shotgun shell?? wow thats got to have some age on it. I wonder if any of the gun pros on this site could give us an idea what the age of that thing might be.

Nice find!!

Looks like a successful hunt to me. Gotta love dem injuns and gold.. I'd make a few more trips to that sight maybe drop the Disc. a bit and see what else turns up. I look forward to seeing more.

WHOA! Those two indians have been through the war, but good finds none the less! Keep it up my man! You must be where the ground is thawed, five inches of snow and solid ice here....Kane 23
