I got shanghaied into helping my Dad with a construction project for most of the afternoon. When we called it a day, I grabbed the M-6 and started making like a gopher in his yard! ;D

This is an old farm house, and the yard is unbelievably full of iron trash. I didn't feel like trying to clean out all the nails, so I only dug the stuff that sounded good. Most of the bigger items will come through in the coin range.

I also accumulated the pile of junk to the right, which doesn't include 20 or so nails I pulled out of a flower bed! :-\

This is the third time I've hunted in this yard, and I have YET to find a single coin. ??? I suspect with all the trash, there is some serious iron masking going on.

WOW!!! Tell your Dad he has too much iron in his diet. ;D
Double check those holes. I found a 1943 Quarter last week under a piece of farm iron. We're counting on you. There has to be a coin out there somewhere. Good luck.

That's usually how it works. Trash and iron first then the coins. Good dig!

I had a fun evening, that's for sure! I would have kept going, except it was getting dark, and the apron weighed about 10 lbs.!

One of the first things I learned, was ALWAYS chek the hole before you fill it in! I often find a second target, usually a nail! :-\

Thats some old looking stuf. Keep swinging and you're bound to find something good. Mabey adjust the setting on your MD?? Good Luck!

Rowdy - Actually those hooks are pretty cool! They can be cleaned up and used. You know there is good stuff to be found on the farm. If you haven't already... you might want to check old Sanborne maps and research the land some more. I think you said the house was built in the late 1800's - but there could have been another house somewhere else on the property before that.

Keep on diggin!

Don't give up on that place yet, theres plenty of treasure there I'm sure... Good Luck....
