Bill, They appear to be pewter, correct? Is the open piece broken or intact? And lastly, anything new on the large lead ball?

Tom - neither item is pewter as they ring in high on my detector. Probably a copper alloy. The openwork piece is broken on one side. And I could never figure out what that 20 lb lead ball was used for. That was strange finding that in the middle of a 300 yr old site.

I can't tell which end is broken. It does look like a stress break in the middle, though.

Handle for candle scissors or sugar nip? Or is it too small for that...?
