I love to put in a long hard couple of days of Civil War digging and come home with a few relics, but it's always nice to find things that you've never found before. I had always wanted to find a lockplate with the hammer attached and I found this one next to an old tobacco barn back in the woods. The fuse adapter was found about 10 yards from a road, I also found my only 3 bullets of the weekend there.
Yesterday was a dawn to dusk hunt with just a couple of shell fragments for my part, but
my hunting partner had the find of the weekend with a beautiful CS buckle tongue. I was so happy for him and it was awesome to witness such a great find.

The lock plate and the fuse are nice finds

Nice finds! I've found a couple hammers but never on the lock plate. Great save!

Very cool score on the old hammer on the lock plate. Nice relic hunting there.:icon_thumright:

pretty cool..pretty cool... does your lead come out of the ground white or is that some sort of red clay color in your area?

Most of the CW bullets that I find come out white, however this area produces some red/brown ones as well....I guess its the soil.

Congratulations on the nice CW recoveries! :occasion14:

Some cool CW relics there....Congrats on the saves.

Love both the lock plate (I've never found one) and the fuse adapter. Well done!
