Howdy Folks. I haven't posted here in awhile. The weather, here in Indiana, has been just wonderful. Reminds me of those NC days. My original plans for the day went out the door before I even got started. Did a little door knocking for new permissions and no one was home. Decided to go to some woods that I went to last year. I came across a depression on the ground that was about 15 x 20 feet. Right away I got started and found a couple keepers. The first was a spoon. Then the usual bits of slaw. Most were pieces to the tops of mason jars. Then I plucked a man's ring. Haven't dug one in a while. That put a smile on my face. It was gold plated at one time and we all know how the ground eats em up. Everything so far was mid-tones. Then I got a nice 87-88 high tone. Was hoping for a nice silver quarter. Out of the hole comes a green object. Cleaned it up and I found another watch fob. I worked my way in and out of the depression. Started on the outskirts of it hoping for a coin. I did manage to find two wheat pennies, 1914 and 1918. I did find one object that has me scratching my head. It's a small rectangle piece with a woman's head etched on it. That piece fits into another piece. I'm thinking a brooch or buckle. I found a small pin that was gold plated but there is nothing on it... odd. I did set a new record for spoon finds. Seven spoons, a couple handles, and pieces to spoons. Also found a nice flat button and an 1867 shield nickel from last weekend. Well, I kept you long enough again. Thanks for looking. SD
