Finds from the last couple hunts have been pretty slim. I went out last weekend for a couple of hours to the 1830s farm where I found the suspender clip. On the back of the clip it has a patent date of March 7, 1871.
Today I went out for an hour to one of my other sites where I found the button. On the front of the button it says "A. Linney & Sons 23 Regent St." I was able to find a merchant list online which has the company listed as a tailor for the British Army and Navy at 23 Regent St. in London. Quite an interesting find for Illinois. The button dates to before 1850 since the company changed names then. The other "thing" looks like a broken reins guide.
