Well like Brett said in his post for today, we went back to the little site that I got the Merc and injuns yesterday. I thought for sure I would at least dig a few wheaties and hopefully something older. As it turned out the luck was in Bretts favor and I only dug 3 wheats. As I was dropping him off at his place he says "Post your finds" and I said yeah right.. 3 wheats isn't worth the trouble of taking pics, editing and all. But I told him I would add 'em into his post tonight for grins. So being a good sport, I took a pic of the wheats (oldest only being a 44) and was getting ready to comment on his finds and add my pic. But then I thought, there must be something else in my pouch of junk, a whatsit or something to add to my meager finds. So I remember digging something today that looked a little too shiny on the inside to be just another molten leftover from what was once a house. So I put on my shoes and went out to my van to retrieved the 2 muddy discs that were dug about 2' apart. As soon as I started rinsing them off I could see that unmistakable gleam of GOLD.
Turned out to be my first dug pocket-watch, or whats left of it anyways. Looks to be the outer case front and the inner dust cover. Both are stamped 236, whatever that means? Only gold plated but still was a cool surprise.
