Relic Hunting
Hello everyone! We had an unusually cool/cold day here in Florida. The high today was in the 40s so I felt the need to get out for a couple hours and dig my favorite Seminole war fort.
I decided to dig some iron signals today which I usually don’t do. I quickly found a period barrel band and a hinge to one of the barracks. Followed by a period iron 2 prong fork. While I was digging relics I also found some period China and a the bottom of a mallet bottle.
The last 30 minutes I changed lots and found 2 54 caliber musket balls and a small cuff sized flat button. As I was walking back to my truck to leave I got an ok mixed signal and pulled out this Coat size artillery button with an A W Spies Rich back mark with some gilt remaining. It made my day for sure!
Thanks for looking and happy hunting to all!

Look in pretty good shape. Good finds.

great day you had out there....I like when the roundballs I dig have that same dark patina like that. If you put them in your finds pouch, the patina all flakes off. So I tend to keep them isolated when possible. I find that this patina is usually on the ones I dig from Oak tree covered sites. Again, you killed it out there. Them Artillery men lost lots of their buttons! thankfully so:thumbsup:
