Hey guys, I hit the fairgrounds today in search of some clad and maybe a ring or two. I spent about 2 1/2 hrs there and gridded a section hard and slow. ended up with a nice pile of pulltabs lol, some sort of play token from the fair i suppose, a copper mood ring, some fancier pulltabs lol:laughing7:, a 1953 wheat (#83 on the year), and a small silver wing from some sort of pendant or possibly earing. plus 145 coins totaling 9.58 (22 quarters, 27 dimes, 10 nickels, and 88 pennies. This place has always been good to me when i need a clad fix, the only catch is....... im exhausted and my hands are sore,:crybaby2: thats the only reason i stopped:BangHead:, theres lots more sections to grid out. Thanks for looking and HH!! IMG_0450.JPGIMG_0451.JPGIMG_0452.JPG

nice finds congrats HH

It is always a fun hunt when you come away with a large, diverse amount of targets like this. I understand.
I wonder about a couple things though. Do you call your shots before every dig? Name that target sort of, before you dig? Then, are you usually right?

I know I do and am pretty surprised how many times I'm right. Still, it is a pleasant surprise when I'm wrong. Especially if it's something better. :)

The other thing is there are two and a half hour hunts and then there are two and a half hour hunts. If you know what I mean. I'm curious as to how fast you dig, how tough was the ground, was the ground highly mineralized, trashy, etc.

Roughly estimating the finds you have here and the time, I think I'd figure you to about a find a minute. No WONDER you're tired!!! LOL

I ask because I know that I dig pretty slow compared to others. Most of my friends have dug up 3 holes to my one, most of the time. LOL

I got around 26 quarters in my last dig but I hunted for 4.5 hours. Not asking for any competitive reasons, just curious, wondering how others do their digging. (Any who climb up and hang upside down from trees after finding a silver dime, need not respond. LOL :) ;) )

WTG!!

well, i feel like im pretty much used to my 350 and about 80 percent of the time the target is what the screen says it is so that helps. the only thing is the depth is often off, for example if it says its at 6, sometimes its at like 3-4 and so on. quarters seem to "scream" at me too.

Digging speed varied at this site because the ground is like hard compacted clay in some spots which is a *#@# to dig in, and soft/sandy in others which was nice. Another thing that helped my speed was no targets were deeper than 4-5 inches and the pinpointer definately helped me retrieve quickly. The ground wasnt very trashy, pretty much what you see in the pics is the trash i dug, and hardly any iron and id say its low mineralization because i was hardly getting any chatter.

a find a minute sounds about right8-), thats why i love this place, and its one of those sites where the plug seems to fall back into place seemlessly if you know what i mean. some of the targets/coins where pretty much on top of each other. I dug multiple mini-spills and even had a plug with 5 quarters in it.

Sorry about the book, but i like answering questions !:laughing7:

Nice day it sounds like! my body hurts to think about all that digging. HH!

yes alot of ups & downs, kinda like doing squats and my hands are a bit sore today lol

Not at all! I'm very happy at comparing notes on finding stuff. It helps me to learn even more about my own machine.

I had a feeling there were a few pocket spills involved there. Love it when they do that! :)

The mineralization still puzzles me. My AT-Pro allows ground tuning and usually, around here, it remains fairly high. 80-85. But, this last place refused to tune any lower than 93!!! That seems like an awfully high reading to me. But, I've only got about a half year experience on this machine.

Even so, it still seems to achieve pretty fair depth and identification.

In any case, awesome hunt and thanks!
HH!
