A "Cache" of a different sort.
I'm a diehard indian artifact hunter, i found this site and you guys got me interested in Md'ing as well.(So much that I bought a white's spectrum XLT) Anyway back to my cache story. I was up in my "Rock Field", this field has harbor'd every indian artifact that I have found which is quite alot, I was trudging around in the mud and rain when I saw 3 really nice adena blades laying on the surface of the ground. As i picked them up my curiosity took over. So i took a stick I was using as a probe and started digging around the general area. Then I saw them, one after another, with about 1/2 inch of dirt between them, and they just kept coming 13 adena's in the ground plus the 3 on top made 15 in that area. They differentiated in size as well. I had heard that the indians sometimes buried thier points but this definitely proved it to me. I kept looking around the field ( which is about 8 acres) and saw 2 more adena's on the surface about 200 yards away so i dug down there too. and found 8 more. 23 in one day. I'll never forget it. I have hit a lot of little 4 and 5 blade cache's since then and I think my adena blades number between 70 - 80 now.I have also found many axe's on this field approx (20 not to mention the ones my uncle and grandfather have found) 2 celts. 1 adz. about 300 whole arrowheads. a 5 gallon bucket of broken artifacts, 7 maize grinding bowls, and numerous pieces of broken pottery. It's my favorite place to be.
Just thought i'd share my cache story!
thanks for reading.
