Today I was metal detecting at the same place where I found the monogramed silver shoe buckle. I was looking for the other piece of the shoe buckle, I didn't find it, but I ended up find a lot colonial items. Including 7 buttons (I found 6, and another family member found 1), a musketball, and a King George II Halfpenny converted into a buzzer toy (Personally I think it is cooler than a normal King George II Halfpenny). On button still has some fibers in the shank, another has a flower design, and another button, a two piece button, also has a design) My sister (WheatCent, which is her name on Tnet) found this beautiful Edwardian Era Gilded Brooch.

Yes I totally agree that the buzzer is cooler than a worn old greenie.

Coinman that KG is such a cool find. I love that thing

I almost forgot, I also found half of an extremely rare variety of "Townshend's Sarseparilla" from the Mid-1800's, I can not find this anywhere variety online!

Really neat what the kg was turned into!

Nice finds - usually called a "whizzer"

Love the King George II Halfpenny converted into a buzzer toy! :occasion14:
The Edwardian Brooch is a very cool find, the brass spigot in the Rikers display is an amazing find too!

Please stop responding to large numbers of posts at one time with meaningless 2 word replies. All it does is send interesting new posts to page 2 or 3 where they never see the light of day again. Many folks I know are complaining about this, and I sent a PM to the moderator earlier this evening. Now that you've padded your post count to above 1000 please stop as its killing this forum.

Great finds! The 'toy' you found wouldn't make a noise when twirled. They had to be serrated to do that.
You may find this link on whirligigs mildly interesting ... there are some 'buzzers there.

:hello2: Congrats to you & your sis on a great day! :hello2: Beautifully displayed. :hello2:

Bill, I hope you'll withdraw your objection to short simple positive posts! It doesn't demean the original poster in any way. Also, no two people are alike, many of us have no specialized knowledge, and a simple comment or thumbs up is a good thing. Have fun everyone, and keep posting! Andi
