A Brauns & Sons "Great Pearl Mining Company" [California Gully 1852]

In 1840,Ablert Braun and his 2 young sons migrated to Australia, after the death of his first wife.Braun had a vineyard just a few miles from where there was to be a large gold rush in 1852.Braun made a fortune from his wine in the first year of the gold rush.Braun and his sons purchased a large gold claim at the California Gully rush.Over the next 25 years the Brauns had secured almost all the gold claims in this area.

In 1865 ,Braun started the Great Pearl Mining Company and went into deep reef mining. The mine claim was about one square mile and boostered over 20 gold mines and crushing batteries.

I went to the site of the early digging in the area and to the site of the Great Pearl Mine.Spent a few hours there and had little luck.Soon it started raining, yes it has decided to rain. Now that is different for around here LOL ;D ;D ;D. Started to head back up the track to to the car and had a bit of a swing along the road.I noticed a couple of shards of a english black bottle and a part plate and when i got this really small silver four pence [1842].I now have a silver coin from before 1850 that taken me years to find.Gee wish there was more but its not to be.

California gully got its name from 17,000 american gold miners that came after the 1849 California gold rush.Lots of American Terms and names used here. That include mine names ,streets, areas and creeks and hills
