A brass what's it , Need help on ID

I found this brass item at 10 inches . It has a piece of wood inside of it . The wood piece looks like it belongs inside . Does anyone have a clue what it is ?

Looks like the decorative end of a samurai sword handle. Called a kashira. There are lots of small parts that go into these handles, so there might be more to be found. Niffler

I found a rusted sword like that under some bushes near a tot lot once...luckily it was a cheap replica and rusted really badly...It fell in pieces when I tried to free it from the dirt.

looks to be to small to be a sword handle
looks to be a couple inches long.

Sure looks like a dead match to the samurai sword handle to me. I dont see the need to keep guessing. Is it just me?
