We did some creek digging today in one of our favorite spots. The bank of the creek is old ash from the town incinerators. Over the years rain and erosion have washed it into the creek and classified it for us. The dump was closed in 1962 so all quarters, dimes and halves are silver. Most of the pennies are wheats but since the operations ceased in 62 that left room for some memorials. The majority of stuff that comes out of the creek is burned but occasionally you'll find some jewelry, coins or tokens that made it through the grates undamaged. That was the case with the silver bird lapel pin. I'm surprised something this big made it through the incinerator without melting.

Lots of pins and medallions come out of the creek. I got the two US pins and a girl scout pin today.

Most of the coins are toasty but the silver Washington was in good shape.

The large half of a ring in the pic is junk but the small baby ring is silver...melted and toasty of course.

Then there is the modern stuff that washes in off of the street. Got the Texas drivers license, debit card, cell phone and a clad quarter on this trip.

Does anyone recognize the buckle? It looks so familiar but I cant remember where I've seen one before.

The buckle looks like one from a military web belt. Nice bird and stuff.

I agree - buckle is of the military belt type, but might also have come with a canteen. I remember seeing canteens for sale that came with a military-style belt.

Best kind of search - all kinds of different things pulled out of the ground and saved! Thanks for sharing...

Nice group of finds. I really like the bird pin

Jealous of those creeks man! Would love to water hunt a place like that.

If your ever in the Dallas/Fort Worth area we'll go! This is one of those places that'll never get hunted out!

Great finds! Funny to find someones Global Cash Card lol

What's even crazier and I don't know if I should laugh or be scared but on a past trip I found a credit card with a .38 cal bullet hole in it. This location is in a bad part of town. If someone got shot through their credit card I hope their wallet was thick...lol

I still have the card. I'll have to find where I put it and take a pic.
