I had a 10 or so hour Civil War relic hunt yesterday, with my favorite find of the day being a beautiful fawn that I almost stepped on. This deer was so still, with only a little nose movement when breathing. I only took time to snap a photo, then left the fawn in peace.
The relic hunt was a mixed bag. My intention was to hunt a wooded area for the entire day since I had found 30+ bullets in 3 hrs the last time I was there.....but the mosquitos had other ideas. I tried twice to go in, heavily sprayed down each time, but I didn't last 10 minutes total....they bit places like my lips and eyelids and biting through my gloves was no problem either. I'll never go out without a good head net again.
I was able to find a few bullets in a recently planted field that the farmer OKd., so everything turned out good......
