Hello all, I went hunting at a 1700's house today. There was a church at one time that part of the 1700's house property surrounds on three sides. The church sat on a very small parcel of land, so by the looks of it to me they probably used the houses land for outdoor functions. This part of the property is quite aways from the main house so I could see them using that. Well I did try once before but it is very wet part of the property and when you dug a plug it would just fill in with water. I thought i give it another try today and boy I am glad I did. I started to lay a grid pattern and after about 5 minutes I got a very weak signal that did not repeat but i would hear a high tone mixed in. Well after a bit of digging out came a a Barber Half dollar. The pick with my digger is the hole I dug the Barber in. After that I went about fifteen feet I got another weak signal but more steady in the high pitch range so I dug again and this time nailed a Barber Quarter. it was so hot and humid i did not hunt long and did not dig up any other good signal in about an hour and half hunt. When i got home I was able to rinse off the coins and the barber quarter is a 1904 and the Barber Half is 1912D. Overall a rewarding hunt and i think these came from church activities. There are some in the field pics and some when I got home thanks for looking.
