I saw this baby when we walked inside a local Salvation Army. Hard to believe what can catch one’s eye from 50 feet away. I walked over to it, picked it up thinking that it couldn’t be real. I turned it over saw that they had polished it looking to see if there was a silver mark. They didn’t think to look on the lip. The grand price for this ……99 cents.

I took it recently to an antique store to see how old it was. The lady said it was made between 1880 -1890 in China for export, also said that it was a powder box. She told me that if she were to put it for sale at her shop she would ask around $850 for it.

I just look at is as a lucky 99 cent find.

Jeeeezzzz somebody there must be blind good find

I've been back a hundred times since and nothing. Yes someone must have been blind that day. They did polish the bottom looking to see if it was marked silver.

I must say if they read this forum, the game is over for sure. :dontknow:

But congrats on the very nice find! :hello2:

Nice find! Did the antique store lady make you an offer for it? Gl..................Scott.

That was a bargain to say the least. I also would have told the lady at the antique shop, today is her lucky day, she can have it for only $400... :laughing7:

Yeah, they pick over stuff so many times that you're lucky if you find used paper plates and plasticware for sale.

By the times it gets marked,it has been picked over by the people who take it in, people on a truck, and the sales people.

She tried but I said no. I figured with the 99 cents I had in at least I have something neat to see that I don't have much in it. But, I hope that if one day I need to sell it....

Out-freakin-standing amigo !!!!!!!!!!Mega Score !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good eye and great find! Tennessee digger

That is one great looking dragon!!!! I'd have bought it even if it wasn't silver, but that makes it even better.

It was way to neat to leave it on the shelf. If it had turned out to be plated I would have still bought it. It's just not something ordinary.
