Got in the water all day on monday....it was beautiful. A bit chilly at the back of the outgoing tide. The deeper chanel was cold with flowing water from the bay, and on top of the flats was 10 degrees warmer. All I needed was a shorty to stay in for 5 hours. Heres the take.

Wow! You weren’t kidding when you said you got a lot of trash! Last year at the campground, I got to where I could tell I was going to dig a pull tab. So, you’re saying I have to dig all of those signals to find the gold jewelry? Lawdy!

Now I am like Sgt Shultz, I know nothing. Please tell me about fake cobbs. When? Why? How can you tell? Is it still a cool find?

Congratulations on a successful hunt!

Love those gold bands! Nice save!

Bart,,nice work,,it was definitely time well spent,up here everything is frozen and more snow is in the forecast

I'm probably a slow learner, but, I've been detecting for over 50 years now and I still can't tell a pull tab from a gold ring......or I.D. gold of any kind with any degree of certainty. I guess pretty good though! :laughing7:. You pretty much have to dig all non-ferrous targets if you don't want to miss gold. There's so many gold alloys, sizes, and shapes of targets that there's no way to discriminate out any non-ferrous signals and not miss gold.

Congrats Bart, great "Gold to Pulltab Ratio"!

Your not alone ! Thats why I say, if it makes noise ...dig it !

Thanks everybody.....9.2 more grams for the treasure chest !! It all adds up and I absolutely love the plain bands with nothing on them. I have no attachment to these type rings and they are always the first to be turned in for scrap value. Im saving up bands to have a gold bezel built for my 1733 pillar dollar. I want to pay for everything with gold bands....my jewelr is a great guy and we have horse traded for years. Hope all you guys are staying warm up there ( billb, obn, casper, etc.) Happy hunting !!

WD...what cuda mark said....I couldnt say it any better than he has....got to dig the pull tabs!!

Cleaning up the surf sand sun.
Nice GOLD! :icon_thumright:

What is that item with the earring stud on top? Hit the sand bar at low tide when no one is there, got to be lots of modern stuff!

Thats a fake cobb coin steve....my 4th one in a month !!

I thought I saw this find someplace else :icon_scratch:-maybe I'm loosing it-:laughing7:

Anyways..... Congrats!! On getting the nice sausage finger gold ring.:headbang:
You certainly dug a few targets of trash also.

The ratio of trash to gold was a barrier in my efforts of being a land lover hunter.
I just couldn't bring myself to the 200/1 ratio and I certainly tried a few times over the decades.

Sand hunting...well it's an easy in my books I hunkered down, and start flipping out the tabs faster than a dog going after a buried bone.

Congrats on the band.... outstanding idea to use your finds to make a bezel.
You’ve inspired me to do the same.
All I need to do is find enough gold to do the same, and find a pillar dollar too.....
