Well after 8yrs of having my wedding ring lost I decided to take my new Quest Pro out in the area that it was lost. After 1 hour of searching I found it at 5 1/2” deep in the ground. My wife had given up all hope but it has bothered me since the day I lost it. I was playing catch with my son who was 3 at the time. It was late in the evening and right at dark when we were putting everything up for the night. I gave the ball one last hard toss in the air and since it was winter my finger was smaller and the ring flew off into the darkness. I looked and looked for days and then looked occasionally as I thought about it and then just let it nag at me until I decided I wanted get into metal detecting. Glad I did and this was officially my third find. I found a 1985 Starfire Matchbox car, two 1/4” x 6” pieces of copper hard pipe, and some melted chunks of aluminum which I have no idea where they came from. Everything I found was kind of a shock as the property we live on was purchased 16 years ago as raw land. Sorry for the long post but I’m so happy I’ve found my ring. I have not bought or worn a ring since I lost it because I always told my wife I was going to find it one day. Oh yeah just so FYI the ring is white gold and the ID was a solid 60 and never budged so I knew when I passed over it that there was something good below. That's a great intro!

Congrats on the find...or...is it a return? Hey, I'll bet if you post a selfie of you smiling with the ring it'll go as a return! In which case, I'll be the first to offer you a warm and hearty congrats for a great return! I'm gonna jump out on a limb and vote honorable mention!

Excellent find. Glad it could be returned to its rightful owner. Lol. And welcome to the forum and the hobby. You'll have to do some research on your property, no telling what could have been there before.

Thanks for the warm welcome. Yeah I’ll have to work on the picture with me and the ring tomorrow in better light lol. Also, the land we own was undeveloped prior to us but after looking back and thinking about some things I’m pretty sure the car was lost by a kid probably walking home from another house and just passing through the land as it was a shortcut between two popular roads and when we bought the property there was a road where people used to drive and cut through so that’s what I think happened.

Congratulations. Great ending.

Fabulous way to introduce yourself to the group. Congratulations on finding your lost wedding band

Thank you everyone for the warm welcome. I’m happy to be a part of a group with such knowledgeable and talented people. Hopefully in the future I can learn a lot and do things right and so I don’t tarnish the hobby.
