8 year old's first time detecting ---- he is hooked !!

Took my 8 year old nephew detecting for his first time yesterday,, I found a 1942 walking half(first half of the year) and he found a 1958 wheatie and a 1959 nickle. I have found gold ,silver,tokens,locks,etc,etc, ,,,, but never have had as much fun as watchin Caden,oh & ah over every bullet,or piece of metal that he found,everything was a keeper !!!!! But his face was priceless when he found his wheatie. I finally realized the true excitment of detecting,,, that is watchin a child discover a whole new world. A great day to all,and as soon as you can,take a child detecting ! you won't regret it

Sweet ! It's great to get out with the kids ! My son is 13 now and has been hunting with me since he was 8 . Great stuff !

It is great! Just be careful to point out that there will be more trash than good, so they're not too disappointed at first. After that, each good find will magnify that wonderful feeling!

My son loves detecting as well and he is eight. I got him a f2 for last Christmas and he gets excited over e very treasure as well.

Amen to that " take a child detecting, you won't regret it!" When my 5 yr old grandson goes with me,he has to carry the "treasure box". ( the pill bottle I have for the clad). He searches the holes diligently while I probe with the pin pointer. He calls it the treasure wand. I think it's cool!
