All,
eBay link for $9, if you prefer to purchase there...http://www.ebay.com/itm/-/112241454123?
NOTE: If you are international (outside of the USA), you can purchase through the eBay link. International shipping is setup. I simply send it to a distribution center and they take care of it. Simple to do! In this case, eBay is our friend.
Because I couldn't find any regular place to get a decent pin pointer tip protector (I tried the dip method, taping, even buying the slip covers from e-Bay.. .none of them lasted long...) I contacted a manufacturer and had 100 of these made to my specifications.
They are 1.5" long and are 0.06" thick (60 mils). They are VERY durable. After 4 months of testing, I was unable to discern any wear at all on the tip protector, even after thousands of recoveries! Given that no previous solution lasted longer than three months, I'm confident these will do the job.
I now even "dig" more confidently with the tip in the dirt. I did notice, though, over time, the softness/pliability of the vinyl tends to harden and take on the shape of the pin pointer (not an issue, but something to be aware of if you take it off and put it back on again... it's normal for the material).
The cost for T-Netters is only $8 for THREE of them, shipping included. This will be BY FAR the least expensive set of pin pointer protectors you'll probably be able to purchase commercially. Not only do you get one of them, but you get THREE! Why? Because most of you probably have a pin pointer and a backup, and having a spare is even better. You can keep it or give it away. My purpose here is not to make gobs of money, but to provide an inexpensive alternative to other solutions that don't work as well.
NOTE: They are only guaranteed to fit the Pro Pointer, Pro Pointer II, and Garrett Pro Pointer AT (Carrot). The best fit will be on a new device, as worn tips may result in a slight gap at the end. I don't expect problems, though, because the product can be pressed snugly against the end during install.
It's quite likely, you may never have to purchase another pin pointer protector set. I'd be surprised if you ever make it through 2 of them! ... And for $8, it's Cheaper than "dipping" or buying protectors commercially.
This deal is for USA folks only (USA/APO), as I'll be shipping first class US Mail. If you are international, and would like a set, PM anyway, but we'll need to work out shipping costs. I have NO idea if they're even reasonable, but I'll be happy to check it out when I go to the post office.
PM me a request with your e-mail address, and I'll send back a Paypal request for the $8. I will print and ship as soon as I get the payment (because your address will be included through Paypal). When shipped this way, you'll have a tracking number automatically included.
To send me a Private Message, click the Skippy SH13 name to the left of my post, and click "Private Message" (Like you see in the below image)., and then send me your e-mail address to where I can send the $8 request.
Cheers!
