Went Sunday and was actually looking for an old civil war site but like always ended up hunting artifacts. Here is what I think I found

Number 1.Is 2-58 caliber civil war bullets. Number 2 is a broken Maccorkle. It has a bifurcate base is early Archaic and 8000-6000 year
s old. Number 3 is a true arrowhead called a Hamilton and is 1000 to 1600 years old . They are one of my favorites for the craftsmanship and the size of a dime.Number 4 is a knife/scraper. A expedient expendable tool with high quality workmanship. Number 5 is a little bear creek made between 4000 to 1500 years ago. 6 is a guntersviille point around 700 to 200 years old. It is what DeSoto saw when he visited that site. 7 is what is called a bottleneck benton. It is 6000 to 4000 years old. They busted the side and reworked it into a spokeshave tool. 8 not sure. 9 is a broken stone gorget with a single reed drilled hole used for jewelry. Age can vary. 10 and 11 broke bases and 13 was a preform. One they were making and did not like and discarded. Caught a bunch of fish and think I have the CIvil war site located as I found about 10 horse and mule shoes plus the dropped bullets. I will go back and detect it this winter. Everything was an eye ball find. No insitus cause all I had was an iPhone and it was wet and a muddy mess. Next time I will take some.

Nice Finds! Pretty little triangle point. Heartbreakers; we all seem to find them, and are always somewhat depressing. But that always encourages us to get back out there and look.

Great trip fishing and artifacts! Best of both worlds.

Thanks guys. I have jars and jars of heartbreakers and you are right. They are an inspiration and fun to study. I need to start posting my meager finds again. It is almost bow season here already.

looks like you found you a sweet hot spot !!
and nice and old too

Beautiful finds!!!! I agree that that little triangle is gorgeously. I am having about ten of those papered next month, along with a long point. They were all from one farm in the state. I just started expanding outside Florida artifacts, and those are beautiful. Great work !!!

You need to go back and see what a guy named Americus finds. He is on the border near Fla and finds some amazing cherts. I have seen Kolomoki collections that were crazy nice and have had the chance to get some of that bullseye stuff myself. At least one good frame. This is a cool site as you can study good examples from all over. Thanks for your kind words and good luck in all your hunts.

I seem to find a lot of broke ones. The slate and humpback types and the only whole one I have is from a material like soap stone. In context in water I wonder if they were broke on purpose. Not like it was busted in a ploughed field. Maybe when your gal broke up with you she broke the gorget :laughing7: Some things never change.

Good days huntin there TN. Love the scraper! I am enjoying finding the tools more than the points these days. Maybe because I find more of them, maybe because I`d rather be at a hardware store than a Belks,,,not sure.

Haha Me too! In all of that was only one arrow point. Everything else was a knife or tool. I like tools. They feel right and are fun to study aren't they. You guys staying cool up there? I responded to your mounds post : ) Have you been reading stickers on my helmet??

Some very nice finds, TnMtns.....Finding a Civil War site would be so cool.....hope you find lots with your detector!

When does your Bow Season start? Ours doesn't start til October(I think)....my husband and daughter are more black powder/rifle hunters. We've seen lots of big bucks already this year....they're just now starting to loose their velvet.

Charmin/Sandcreek is is the last weekend in Sept. I need to take as many as I can this year for management purposes. Got a 13 pointer with my smoke pole last season. I am on a couple good cw sites right now just always researching more. Hope you have a great safe season.
Americus thank you. I imagine your fields are getting ready to be hunted. We will have soybeans until early Oct this year. Best crop I have ever seen with the rain we had.
