Gypsy, Great article. With a timeframe like that, it's hard to say how much can be salvaged, but I hope they go with that for all the metal they find, map it all, and create a museum for it. It will take alot of people to work it. It's such a shame that they have to dredge due to the PCPs, and that there is no way to salvage any wood or pottery from the wrecks. :'(

I find this article intriguing, especially in light of the lengthy discussion around the Titanic elsewhere in this forum - In one case, someone wishinig to profit from a wreck is told they cannot disturb the wreck, and in another, someone (GE) trying to make amends for the results of their profiteering intends to dredge the wrecks along with muck and rubble.............

Makes no sense to me.

Its amazing to me they could find anything in the hudson! LOL.

Diggemall, the company that was essentially raping the titanic is/was based here out of norfolk. It comes up in the papers every now and again about them being sued for making money, etc, etc.
I guess I'm of the opinion that they are out there doing the work, it is way out of any jurisdiction where the wreck is, and they need to recoup some losses. Sure they are being paid to do it, but it doesn't cover everything.
Its kind of like those fellas down in fl who found that large gold find from back in the gold rush days (I don't recall every detail, I watched it on history channel late at night). They found this ship full of gold bars and coins, and all the banks were WAITING for them to pull into port to try to claim it. They did all the work, logged all the man hours, and the banks were wanting to lay claim to it, and were threating to sue. I believe in a rare situation, the courts actually did the right thing and awarded the th's the find, not the banks.
