uncle mac I recently found a item exactly like yours .it is about 3/4 to an inch round and about 18 inches long.the pin off to the side 3/16 thick and 5/8 long with a round head on top that yours is missing.wish I knew what it was.

Is that little spur also brass or is it steel? This is solid? No holes, threaded or not?

looks like a jack handle to me!

the spur is also brass and the rod has a hole through it...it is too far gone to tell if it was threaded or not.

uncle mac the idea of a jack handle seem logical but mine has a nail looking spur on the side.i do have a jack handle but the spur is a lot shorter and the handle is semi hollow .but the answer birky quoted is not bad.

I've never seen a brass one either.

I'm thinking some sort of a plumbing stem because of the brass. Otherwise I'm right there with the jack handle.

I am thinking it could be a section of a cleaning rod and the pin was to hold a wooden handle on.

A cleaning rod for what?

i gotta get yall a better picture of the ends and the rod. The brass is actually pretty thick and the pin pretty thin.
