??????

Can you? It is possible. Would I? Depends. Never among the graves. Thats kinda (OK, OUTRIGHT) creepy and makes US look bad. I have heard that the area surrounding a cemetary can produce old stuff. And I know that many of the early churches had a cemetary in the front/back/side/surrounding/etc. Alot of the old churchs are now gone and the cemtary remains. A good rule of thumb for me has always been to never TH in an area that a "good woman" (i.e., one I didnt pay) would not roll in the hay. Wait, most of the women I know would probably do that in a cemtary anyway, maybe not a good rule then. ;)

Theoretically, Yes you can metal dectect in a graveyard/cemetary. There is dirt and some metal objects are left around (flower holders, pins, coins, etc). But ethically and in good image of the hobby, I would not. I say let the dead rest in peace. I would not do it. I know it can be tempting, but passers by from the road would just see you and label all of us as "grave robbers".

This is not a good idea to metal detect in cemeteries because of the bad rep you would give to us in the hobby. Doing any retrieval for a coin is going to look bad to anyone else.

no problem, there is a grave yard 1 min. from my house that has all 17 and 18 hundred graves.

Complete disrespect for the dead and would do irreparable harm to the the image of the hobby.

Be seen by a person of influence and bam, can you say "knee jerk regulation"! Better leave it alone.

P.S. I would go berserk if I saw someone digging around my mothers grave.
