Around 1776 the wreath type with Arabic numeral "60" motif was adopted and used until the early 1790's. There are numerous variants of this type and from many sites. Ref: Military Buttons of the American Revolution "The British Army"

I see mention in the book that a lot of the variants were found at Fort Haldimand and Savannah area in general, and it also states that in 1777 three companies were sent to East Florida and in 1779 there were operations going on in Georgia, so they were in your general area. Part of the regiment was captured at the fall of Pensacola.

If you are in an area where more Rev War buttons can be found you might find it worth to purchase this book, author is Don Troiani.

Great button, many 60Th Regiment buttons were found in Lower Manhattan, When they were digging for the sites of modern skyscrapers, in the mid eighties. The 60Th Regiment were stationed in many various camps and fort sites here in New York City. On page 45 of my book "New York City's Buried Past" A Guide To Excavated New York City's Revolutionary War Artifacts 1776-1783 I have a sketch of that button.

The book is out of print, and hard to find. Currently some one is selling a few copies on eBay.

PS. Don T. Purchased the 100Th copy from me when the book first came out in 1992.

The fact that 25 percent of the button is missing reduces the value a great deal, But it is still a nice piece of history dating back to the Revolutionary War. Just a guess, very least $100
upwards to $200..

Regards Simon......
