The title of the article calls it "Deaths head" but in the article itself it calls it "Devils head " I wonder which it is?

I believe it was Devils Head, since that location DOES show on Google Earth on the mountain. Mis-spellings were very common in the newspapers back then.

It's Devils Head. I live not so far from there. The USFS still has a fire lookout tower up there and from what I understand the money was never recovered.
