I found this today and was wondering what it could be off of? about 6" long.
It was next to an old one room school house near where I live. I wish I didn't put that slight bend in it when I was trying to dig it out of the ground.
At first I thought it was for a lock and deadbolt. the round holes were for screwing it down, but it has 3 holes not 2, like a few I seen before. Plus it has those 2 tabs on the back.

That's pretty. It is the face plate off of a Victorian era door lock, similar to (but not identical to) the one shown here.

Yes, it is a plate off of a Victorian era door set.

I believe that this plate has been removed from an interior sliding pocket door.

These are found in both plated brass and solid brass.

Neat find !!! I found one of these similar 3-4 years ago that is sitting in the junk box and never had a clue what it was til now. Great info...:occasion14:

I agree and nice find! The two tabbed holes on the back were to hold the locking mechanism in place.
